Sustainable IT Day: Between Conviction and Ground Reality
At Dexio, questions related to the environmental impact of digital technology are taking an increasingly important place.
It is within this dynamic that two colleagues, Kevin and Mattia, took part in the latest Sustainable IT Day in Lausanne.
A day rich in exchanges, marked by the diversity of the participants present and the quality of the discussions. Local companies such as Loyco and Alpict were notably present, alongside the organisations behind the event, IT4Future and ISIT-CH.
Beyond the meetings, one point in particular caught our attention:
the difficulty of reconciling sustainability and sovereignty.
A comparison mentioned during the event illustrates this reality well: that of “organic and local”.
In principle, support is strong. But in practice, notably for SMEs, implementation remains complex.
In the digital domain, the observation is similar.
Moving away from dominant solutions to favour more local or more responsible alternatives involves real constraints: resources, time, solution maturity, and even today, little structured support.
These exchanges confirm an intuition already present at Dexio: we are at the start of a profound movement.
Not all the answers have been established yet, but the direction is clear.
The challenge is to progressively integrate these reflections into application design, technical choices, and client support.
This participation marks an additional step in this reflection.
It helps to structure an approach that will continue to evolve through projects and field feedback.
At Dexio, the conviction is becoming clearer: these issues will gradually become essential in the way business applications are conceived and developed.
From tomorrow, the team will continue its activities and travel, notably to Zurich as part of the ULTIMO project, for other matters related to innovation and mobility.
Thank you for reading and I look forward to crossing paths at a conference or other event very soon.
